Welcome my creative friend to another episode of create today with Beth Buffington. Well, we [00:01:00] are wrapping up our first month of this new year, and what a month it has been. Just watching the world and just being one person who is part of the world. Well, we've been experiencing current events like polarized politics that Can be tugging apart at the seams of family and relationships, and we've either seen or we've experienced firsthand.
some a pretty extreme weather that has been a hardship on so many communities. Especially this month. And to each of us, no matter where we are or who we are or what our month has been like, we are surrounded with varying levels personally, with concerns about family and jobs, relationships, health, finances.
Oh my goodness. The list is long, right? Well, when [00:02:00] all these layers add up, they can, at times, feel very heavy. And they can be a lot to process all by yourself. When life gets heavy, and this is a when, not an if, it's important to have moments of levity and serenity where we can go and unplug. Or even escape from the noise and the pressures that life can bring us.
As you know, I'm a big believer in the power of creativity to make you happier and healthier in heart, mind, body, and soul. And today I'm here to tell you that when life blankets you with heavy layers of worry and stress, creativity is an answer to finding some peace. But here's something very important, my friend.
You don't have to be creative alone. [00:03:00] Find some creative soulmates and get creative with them. They can be a port in your storm, your oasis when lost in the desert. So lean on your creative friends. So today we're going to consider the power of creative friendship. Now spending time doing creative things with friends is great fun, but it is so much more than just having fun.
It's profoundly beneficial for your wellbeing. Spending time with a group creatively, well, it strengthens friendships through the common bond of sharing similar creative passions. So art, music, writing, sculpting, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, cooking, gardening, all of these are great creative outlets.
And these are wonderful ways to escape the pressures of life with a creative buddy. [00:04:00] Creative friendships foster a sense of belonging and they will also increase your inspiration and make it easier to discover new ideas.
Creative friends are good for your heart because laughter and connection will reduce stress and release feel good hormones. That sounds good, doesn't it? Spending time in a group where you feel creatively safe It nurtures your confidence. It makes it easier for you to see the world from different and fresh perspectives and having friends that are tied together with a creative bond.
It helps increase problem solving and all of these benefits. Well, they're treasures that you can receive. Through creative friendships, because you're all wrapped up like a warm blanket, like a yummy burrito due to the fact that you're [00:05:00] supported by like minded people in a caring and creative environment.
So sharing your artistic side with other creatives who have a similar passion creates a deep sense of fulfillment and joy as you realize. That there are others out there who like to do what you like to do, and who think like you do, and have similar goals and expectations. Being with creative friends reminds you of the beauty found in collaboration and human connection.
So you might be thinking, well, that sounds great, Beth, but you know, I'm not really sure what to do when I get together with creative friends. So, you know, I love a good list. So let's first. Talk about finding some pure fun doing activities with other creatives. Here are activities that can help you close the drapes on stress and the noise [00:06:00] that the world is doling out to you.
Here are eight creative activities for you and your creative friends to enjoy. Number one, host a paint and sip night. You can figure this out on your own, have it at your home, someone else's home, a backyard, a park, or you can find a business locally that sets up these events.
Paint what you like and sip what you like. Number two, collaborate on a large mural together. This is a wonderful way to give back to your community by creating a mural for a fundraiser or a community event. Number three, have a themed craft night. So pick the next holiday and make some fun decorations or plan a goal setting evening and make some vision boards.
Number four, plan a storytelling circle and write a collective short story in person, or you can do this online. [00:07:00] This is a wonderful way to stay in touch creatively and benefit from creative collaborations. Number five. Get together to make homemade candles or soap or home decorations. You'll not only have fun with other creatives, but you'll also make some super fun gifts or fun things to spruce up your own home.
Number six, organize a cooking or baking get together. And again, you could do this in person or online. My daughter does this with her college and high school friends online, and they gather from all over the country. With their ingredients all set and they share a common recipe and they bake together while they chat about life in a zoom room,
number seven, enjoy an outdoor photography walk and choose a common subject to shoot. So this is where you'll pick something, a topic, a flower, a bird, and you will go out into a park or forest preserve and look [00:08:00] for your topic. And then you'll share your photos later. This is a wonderful way to get a little exercise, do something creative together, and share the event with friends.
What could be better? Number eight. Consider taking a pottery or painting or any creative class together. Register with your buddies, and then you can explore and expand your creativity with this friend who has the same creative curiosity. It's a great way to grow your creative skills and your confidence as you explore new ideas and perspectives together.
Now, there could be a possibility that you're a creative like me, who is living somewhere where there just aren't very many artists nearby that you can get together with personally,
Especially creatives who have that same passion that you might have about becoming a [00:09:00] professional artist. And here's the thing, my friend, being creative is often a solitary journey because it is fairly common to not have friends who have that same creative dream that you have who live nearby or that you even know anywhere.
So You find yourself by yourself with your plans and your goals. And this makes you alone with decisions, alone with your doubts, alone with a loud inner critic, and often a huge case of imposter syndrome. Trust me, I completely understand this because I have been there and I have done that.So consequently, being creative alone often means that you Don't have others who understand your creativity, who can give you the right kind of encouragement that you need, or to be your cheerleader, or to give you the right advice to help you figure [00:10:00] out your next step. As you map your path to creative goals, being alone makes it really difficult to realize your full creative potential.
And I am speaking from experience because I reached success with my creative goals so much faster and more confidently and more enjoyably when I discovered that I didn't have to do it all by myself. And this happened only after I started meeting with a group of like minded creatives who were interested in selling their art through licensing, just like I wanted to do.
I remember telling these creatives when we first met, I have found my people. And through the years, these artists have become dear friends to me, and they live all around the world. They have become my confidence, my cheerleaders, [00:11:00] and I hope that in return, I have been able to be the same to them as well.
So my friend, I suggest, especially if you're feeling alone about finding other creatives who have that same passion and the same goals that you might have. It is time. to become part of the Create Today community.
This is a group of artists who are in various stages of mapping out their path to their creative success. And when you are part of create today, you're going to make friendships.
With a community of artists, and you're going to be able to share your dreams and your goals with them. And you'll expand your creative confidence as you realize that you're not alone as you look for solutions to all those mysteries about how to get your work out there. And inside the Create Today community, you're going to have me for a creative [00:12:00] friend,
A friend who is here to share my experience, my advice and the secrets I've discovered about becoming a professional artist.
you'll also be able to meet some of my creative friends who have found success in their areas of creative expertise. Now in February, I am hosting some creative get togethers that will open doors and shed new light on how you can meet other creatives and expand your creativity and map your path to creative success.
This is a marvelous place to find other artists who are curious about these same things. does this make you curious? Are you ready to learn more? All you need to do is make sure that you're on my email list so that you can be certain you'll receive an invitation to one of my get togethers.
I have found friends, creative peace, and I've [00:13:00] also found success faster, all because I discovered a group of creative friends, friends who came to the creative table with similar thoughts and goals about their art, their creative lives, and their creative goals.
Let me help you find this peace. Meet your creative friends. and help you find your path to creative success. Come and join me here at Create Today, hop on my email list by going to www. bdi create.
today. Imagine what you can create today when you're part of a community of creative friends who are cheering you on and helping you map your path to your creative destination. Finding more creativity through friendship.
That is a powerful way [00:14:00] to enrich your work, enrich your happiness and your relationships with other creatives. So important, my friend. These friendships will nurture your creative spirit like a cool drink of water on a very hot day, whether you're painting, crafting, collaborating on a shared vision, the joy of creating with others, today, inside a community of like minded people, well, it amplifies your happiness, deepens your creative connections, and provides you with The opportunity to meet other artists, all this goodness actually will help you reach your goals faster and you'll create friendships that will last a lifetime.
Trust me, It is so important for your well being to enjoy creative activities with friends. And it is important to [00:15:00] remember
it's not just about making great art. When you're spending time with other creatives, you're making memories and strengthening the bonds that will make you strong enough to deal with all the noise and the craziness. That this world is serving up to you each week.
So find and then lean on your creative friends, embrace the laughter, revel in the inspiration and watch as your heart, mind, body, and soul come alive with new possibilities, your creativity is going to thrive when it's shared. With creative friends and remember create today is here to introduce you to
a vibrant, creative community to ensure that you will discover and enjoy all the treasures that creative friendships [00:16:00] have to offer. So that no matter what you're experiencing in life today, you can stay creative, my friend.
